Fishing in the City will be held on April 8th, 2017.

Fishing in the City is a Saturday in Spring in which we teach 100 children how to fish. GVRD along Vallejo Rotary, Friends of Lake Chabot, and California Fish & Wildlife offer training stations and education booths the morning of the program.

We feel its important to teach our Youth the importance of taking care of our lakes and parks here in Vallejo. Every child goes home with a tackle box full of fishing equipment and a brain full of information.

Shortly before the event, we plant about 1500-2000 lbs of fish in the lake for the youth to catch. We also net off a certain area of the lake so our participants are more likely to catch a fish or two.

The event happens once a year on a Saturday in Spring. We start as early at 8:00am and we go to 11:00am. After the nets are pulled at 11:00am, we have a BBQ for the participants and their families. Its a great day to fish and have fun in our community.

It's a free event, so please be sure to pre-register before the event as we can only take the first 100 participants.
