Greater Vallejo Recreation District to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Cunningham Aquatic Complex

Vallejo, CA – The Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) is pleased to announce the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Cunningham Aquatic Complex’s exciting new upgrades. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Cunningham Aquatic Complex, located at 801 Heartwood Ave, Vallejo, CA, 94591. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m., with the official ribbon cutting promptly beginning at 4:00 p.m.

This ribbon cutting marks the completion of phase two with significant improvements to the Aquatic Complex, which have been ongoing since the COVID-19 pandemic. These upgrades include enhancements to the registration office, new ADA-compliant restrooms and showers, and the addition of gender-neutral restrooms on the pool deck. Additionally, the complex has seen new pool deck concrete, plumbing, plaster, and the addition of a children’s pool, all of which have greatly improved the facility’s accessibility and functionality.

In addition to the ribbon cutting ceremony, guests will enjoy complimentary snacks, giveaways, and an opportunity to tour the newly updated facilities. The first 50 attendees will receive a free recreational swim pass, valid for one entry during the 2025 summer season.

This project was made possible thanks to Measure K tax funding, which provided critical support for Phase 2 of the Aquatic Complex project list. GVRD extends its sincere gratitude to the Vallejo residents, local council members, county supervisors, and assembly members whose continued advocacy and support have been vital in advancing these important upgrades.

The Cunningham Aquatic Complex serves as a vital community hub for recreation and fitness, and these upgrades will further enrich the experience for residents and visitors alike.
